3 SELF - HYPNOSIS TIPS TO BE MORE CONFIDENT

Do you stop yourself from doing challenging things because you are afraid to fail? Do you feel anxious with the idea to speak in public, in a meeting or to engage in a conversation

It is possible to gain back some control and to feel more confident. Here are 3 self – hypnosis tips to boost your self – confidence.

These suggestions are based on techniques frequently used in hypnotherapy, which you can use to help you reach a goal that is realistic, specific, and measurable. Find a quiet place, a comfortable position, and a time when you won’t be disturbed.

BREATHING

Start to slowly inhale with your nose, at your own pace, hold your breathe for 2 or 3 seconds, without reaching a sense of discomfort. Exhale slowly, sending a wave of relaxation through your body, while repeating in your mind a word such as ‘sleep’, ‘peace’ or ‘relax’. Repeat this process 5 or 6 times. When you start feeling that your eyelids feel heavy and they want to close, let you eyes close and relax.

AUTO-SUGGESTION

Pick an affirmation that you can repeat to yourself in your mind. Make it positive, clear, specific to your goal, and in the present tense.

Practice having an inner voice that is calm, confident, and reassuring. For example, if you want to feel more confident when speaking, you can say “I feel calm and confident when I speak, I can take my time”, or “I choose to relax and feel confident when I speak to someone”.

Now, repeat your positive suggestion to yourself while being aware of your imaginary tone of voice. Make it sound right, really mean what you say, until you feel it taking hold.

VISUALISATION

Now, imagine being in the situation where you would like to act more confident and serene. Really imagine as if you were there, as if it is actually happening right now. Start repeating your positive affirmation to yourself into that scene. Imagine that your positive affirmation is growing stronger and stronger within you and imagine handling the scene in a more effective way. Go through it for about 30 seconds then let the scene go. Repeat this sequence 5 times.

Finally let go of all your efforts, smile to yourself inside, and when you are ready, start counting from one up to five to emerge yourself. Open your eyes, stretch yourself and keep all the positive suggestions and feelings you have absorbed with you into your life.
